Fastex, within the framework of its AKNEYE project, sponsors Armenia’s participation in the annual Avignon Festival, which will be held from July 3 to 21. HK Production’s creations are ready to grace the French stages.
The famous annual arts festival known as the Festival d'Avignon in Avignon, France, was founded in 1947 by the renowned French actor and director Jean Villard and has become one of the most prestigious cultural events in the world. This diverse program of theatre, dance, music and visual arts engages artists and audiences from all over the world.
Performances take place in various historical locations of the medieval city, including the iconic Palais des Papes. The combination of ancient architecture with modern theatre, dance and music generates a unique and attractive atmosphere. The fusion of the historical environment and avant-garde art creates modern stages and performances that have received a new breath.
In October 2023, representatives of the Avignon Festival were in Armenia as part of the Hayfest Festival. After watching more than 15 performances, they chose two that Armenia should present at this year's festival in July. The first is the play "A Cold Day in Hell" by the Armenian State Song Theatre, staged based on the play of the same name by Jan Quackenbush, the second is the plastic performance "The Song of a Refugee " by the “MIHR” Theatre.
Armenia is participating in Avignon for the first time since 1947. These days, an Armenian holiday will be held in the French city. The organisers of the festival came up with the initiative to hold Armenian cultural days. In addition to theatrical performances, there will also be films. On July 8, Hrach Keshishyan's "Anatolian Story" and one of Serge Avédikian’s films will be shown. It will be followed by a meeting with the creative team. There will be concert programs and round-table discussions at various venues in the city, where the Armenian delegation will talk about the trends and development of modern art in Armenia.
The event will also include an illustration on the AKN. Right there, in the presence of guests, artist Luisa Gragatti will paint on the eye-shaped sculpture, inviting the viewers to an unforgettable journey.
Fastex, with its AKNEYE project, constantly supports the preservation, dissemination and development of Armenian art and culture.
